PURE is a pioneering UK-based producer of high quality, high-fidelity audio and radio equipment. Matchbox helped them put together a product roadmap for voice.

The evolution of smart speaker technology with integrated music and radio streaming services created a new class of consumer products for home and automobile that PURE wished to compete in. PURE hired Matchbox to guide them through the process of understanding, assessing, and testing the capabilities of voice service platforms and music streaming services integrated into a PURE speaker. Our goal was to deliver a set of strategic recommendations along with a costed product development plan to the executive team.

This Product Planning engagement was a combination of requirements analysis, technical research, prototyping UI and UX (for both software and hardware), and technical feasibility assessments. further, since the PURE team would own and deliver the resulting product plan, understanding their organization's various capabilities was also an important component of our assessment.

Facilitating workshops with stakeholders and subject matter experts, we focused on addressing key questions with explicit, tight goals. Using Google Ventures' Design Sprint methodology we rapidly pieced together a product development plan based on; what we had proved to be technically possible, satisfied the stakeholders stated objectives for the product and fit with PURE's business aims.

Our product development plan and strategic recommendations gave the PURE executive team the information, direction and confidence they needed to begin developing a brand new class of smart speaker products.
