We helped an IoT startup get to market with a mobile app for family safety and security.

TrackNet was an IoT pioneer offering a wireless tracking and smart home system to families. The system included various wireless sensors, wearables and tags to monitor and manage your home, pets, possessions and loved ones. The technical novelty was its use of LoRaWAN – a low-power, long-range wireless system.

Given our IoT experience and our mobile app design and development expertise, we were delighted to get involved helping TrackNet deliver and improve on their flagship product: the Tabs core application for Android and iPhone.

We helped bring v1 of the app to completion, fixing bugs, making improvements, and ushering past the app stores. Later, we added a whole new WiFi security feature, including monitoring web traffic and surfacing alerts.

The work required understanding of mobile app UI design, how LoRaWAN works, the Xamarin framework and always human-computer interaction fundamentals.

Within 12 months of getting the product to market, TrackNet was acquired.

We learned a lot about LoRaWAN and IoT product development during this project. The relationship it sparked with Semtech has led to even more exciting work and relationships within the IoT space and the LoRa Alliance.
